Next Steps for Admitted MAED and Initial Licensure Students

The BW network access gives you access to BW email, Canvas and lots of online resources you'll use as a member of the BW community.

To retrieve your BW username and email, visit your admitted student portal. After logging in to your portal and retrieving your username, follow the instructions on the page below your username and set a password for your new BW email. Have the phone associated with the number used when applying to BW. This is used to confirm your identity when setting your new BW email password.

Students admitted with coursework pending (final degree) need to send a final, official transcript to BW's office of admission. Transcripts can be sent electronically to admit@bw.edu or mailed to:

Course Planning and Registration

You will review your program requirements and register for your classes during your first advisor meeting. After that, you can review your Progress and Plan in the Student Planning Tool each registration period to select courses and register for classes. You are encouraged to meet regularly with your advisor to review your program completion plan.

My Records & Canvas

My Student Planning Tool is a comprehensive planning and registration tool allowing you to View Your Progress, Plan your Degree & Register for Classes. Your Student Planning Tool can be accessed in My Records.

Your course materials will be accessed from the Canvas learning management system. Please familiarize yourself with this platform prior to the start of your first class. Syllabi and advanced assignments may also be found here. Your course schedule and faculty contact information can be found in your My Records Semester Schedule.

BW Jacket Express Card

At the beginning of the semester, students will receive a mobile Jacket Express Card.

BW has excellent event programming, including nationally-known speakers, concerts, theatre productions, art exhibits and athletic events. Most of these are free or available to students at a reduced charge by presenting your Jacket Express card. The Jacket Express card also provides access to the Lou Higgins Recreation Center and Ritter Library.

Books and Supplies

To purchase your textbooks, you can visit the BW bookstore in person or on their website. The bookstore is located in the basement of the Strosacker Union. See BW's virtual map for the location. Please call (440) 826-2205 with any questions regarding the bookstore.

Students can either enter their BW student ID or look up courses individually to view required and optional texts.

Recreational Facilities

All graduate and post-baccalaureate students are able to use their BW Jacket Express card to gain free access to the Lou Higgins Recreation Center for use of a fitness center, weight room, dance studio, multipurpose basketball, volleyball, badminton and racquetball courts, swimming pool, indoor batting cage and second-floor computer lab. The Tressel Lounge and classrooms/meeting rooms are also available for group meetings and studying. Cards for spouses are available for a nominal fee.

Health Services

All students enrolled in at least one class are eligible for services at BW's Health Center (insurance is not required). Basic clinical care is provided with doctors and nurse practitioners available by appointment for additional services. Teleconference appointments are also available.

Counseling Center

Counseling services are provided at no charge to students for individual, group or urgent/emergency counseling services. A $25 fee is charged for psychiatry services. Walk-in and telehealth counseling appointments are available.

Professional Development

In addition to your graduate classes leading to a license and/or master's degree, Baldwin Wallace University offers professional development opportunities to keep you at the top of your game and help you renew your current license. Learn more about professional development for educators.

BW Center for Academic Success and Achievement (CASA)

The BW Center for Academic Success and Achievement (CASA) supports and strengthens the academic experience of BW's diverse community through services and resources designed to empower learners to maximize their educational and professional goals.
