Christy Walkuski is a proud BW alumna and received a bachelor's degree in English in 2004. After BW, she earned a master's degree in higher education administration from Loyola University of Chicago.

Walkuski served for five years as the assistant director and adjunct faculty with the Center for Leadership and Civic Engagement at the University of South Florida, working with civic leadership and international service programs. Her passion for civic engagement, social justice and human rights led her to serve as the service-learning coordinator for two voyages with Semester at Sea (summer 2009, fall 2011).

She returned to the Cleveland area in 2010 to pursue her Ph.D. in cultural foundations of education at Kent State University. Prior to joining the BW Leadership in Higher Education program, she served for eight years as the director of the BW Brain Center for Community Engagement. Walkuski's research interests include civic identity development, the civic empowerment gap and basic needs insecurity in higher education. She is active with the Cleveland Collaborative Initiative to End Human Trafficking.
