Women for BW
Women for BW strengthens the course of women's philanthropy through the power of programming, engagement and collective giving.
As a Baldwin Wallace University support organization, Women for BW builds on the legacy of the Baldwin Wallace Women’s Club, founded in 1921. This inclusive network creates opportunities for future generations of BW students and demonstrates the impact of many women giving together. Members connect through three key areas: the Giving Circle, dynamic programs, and student and peer networking.
Membership
Membership is open to all Baldwin Wallace alumnae and friends. To participate in the Giving Circle, Women for BW members commit to an annual contribution of $500 and hold one vote to determine where Faculty and Staff Special Projects and Student Academic Enrichment awards are allocated each year. Women under 40 years of age may participate for an annual contribution of $250. Recent graduates within the past five years may participate for $100.
If a participant cannot meet the $500 threshold, the individual may still donate to the Giving Circle fund but does not earn voting rights. The participant is encouraged to attend any Women for BW events but may be required to pay a registration fee, when applicable.
If a member chooses to give $1,000 or higher, the donor would be invited to the annual James A. Wallace Dinner and other leadership donor activities. Members are encouraged to continue their typical philanthropic giving to the University.
Giving Circle
The Giving Circle has two segments for annual disbursement with 75% of funds allocated to Faculty & Staff Special Projects and 25% of funds allocated as Student Academic Enrichment grants.
Faculty & Staff Special Projects - 75%
Faculty & Staff proposals focus on curricular and approved student experiential learning opportunities. Proposals require approval of department chair prior to submission. Project funding is be determined by voting members.
Student Academic Enrichment Grants - 25%
Award amounts vary up to $2,000 each and any remaining funds are disbursed by the discretion of Women for BW according to their bylaws. Recipients are determined by voting members as an award. Honoring the current Women's Club legacy, all recipients are female.
Programming
Women for BW presents several opportunities annually for social, educational, and arts related events already established through the Baldwin Wallace cultural calendar.
Women for BW members are invited to exclusive pre- and post-event receptions (i.e. Innovation Summit, music theatre productions, speaker's series events).
Peer and Student Networking
Meetings and networking opportunities take place as determined by the Women for BW steering committee.
Student networking and mentorship opportunities arise as appropriate as programming evolves.
Baldwin Wallace alumnae and friends are encouraged to participate in any Women for BW programming and engagement events. A minimal registration fee may be required, when applicable.
