Tuition Exchange Scholarship Program

Baldwin Wallace University is proud to be a member of two national tuition exchange programs, which offer undergraduate scholarship opportunities for the dependent children of eligible faculty and staff employed at participating member institutions.

The programs BW participates in are:

  • The Tuition Exchange (TE)
  • The Council of Independent Colleges (CIC) Tuition Exchange Program

Eligibility and Application Process

The BW Tuition Exchange Scholarship is a highly competitive, full-tuition award for up to four years (eight semesters) of undergraduate study.

Applicant Requirements

For a student to be considered for a Tuition Exchange Scholarship at Baldwin Wallace University, they must meet the following criteria:

  1. Eligibility: Your parent/guardian must submit an application through Tuition Exchange and/or CIC be certified as an export candidate by the college/university where they are employed.
  2. Admission: The student must apply for and be formally admitted to Baldwin Wallace University as a first-time undergraduate student. BW does not consider offers to transfer students, graduate students, or current students who did not receive the scholarship as incoming first-year students.
  3. FAFSA: All Tuition Exchange scholars are required to complete and submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) annually.

 BW Tuition Exchange Policies

  • The Tuition Exchange Scholarship is a competitive award, and BW cannot award scholarships to all eligible applicants. Final scholarship decisions are made by the BW Tuition Exchange scholarship committee based on the number of available import slots, the student's academic credentials, the overall applicant pool, etc. Each year, BW receives approximately 75 tuition exchange applications and awards approximately 10 scholarships.
  • The scholarship is a full-tuition award. All students are still responsible for the cost of room, board, and fees.
  • The award is typically renewable for a total of eight semesters of full-time undergraduate study, provided the student maintains good social and academic standing and continues to meet all eligibility requirements.
  • The scholarship cannot be used if a student studies abroad.
  • Federal and state aid a student may receive may be applied toward the cost of tuition, with the remaining tuition costs covered through the BW Tuition Exchange Scholarship.
  • Tuition Exchange scholars are required to live on campus all four years (eight semesters) while receiving the award.

Deadlines (Import Candidates): The annual deadline for the receipt of import candidate applications (the final TE application submitted by your home institution) is January 1. Applications received after January 1 will not typically be considered for the scholarship. Scholarship recipients will be notified beginning February 1.
