Next Steps for Admitted Adult, Military or Part-Time Students

Congratulations on Your Acceptance to BW!

As a newly admitted adult, military, or part-time student, you're bringing valuable experience and perspective to Baldwin Wallace University. We're thrilled to have you continue your academic journey with us.

To help you transition smoothly, we've outlined your next steps below. These will guide you through important tasks like setting up your BW student ID, submitting your new student deposit, and preparing for your first semester at BW.

Step 1: Set Up Your BW Account

First, retrieve your BW username by logging into your application portal.
Second, while still logged in to the application portal, follow the instructions linked in the portal to set the password for your new BW account/email address.

You will need the mobile phone associated with your BW application when activating your new account.
You must set up your BW account before you can continue with the rest of the steps on this page.

Step 2: View Your Initial Transfer Evaluation

Once your transfer evaluation is complete, you will receive an email with instructions on how to access your information via My Records. You will be able to see how your courses transfer to BW and what BW requirements they will fulfill.

Step 3: Complete Your Onboarding Forms

These forms will complete your new student registration process. You will be notified when the forms become available.

Students entering BW in spring 2026: Onboarding forms will be available in November 2025.
Students entering BW in fall 2026: Onboarding fomrs will be available in February 2026.

Step 4: Complete Transfer Student Course and Register for Classes

After completing your onboarding forms, you will be enrolled in a required online course that is designed for you to progress at your own pace. You will be notified when this course becomes available.

Steps for Accessing Financial Aid

Complete your FAFSA. Eligibility for financial aid is determined annually based on information you provide through the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Most government, college and private organizations depend on the FAFSA to determine eligibility for grants, scholarships and loans.
The FAFSA application is available online. BW's federal code number for FAFSA is 003014.
Complete any other forms requested by the financial aid office promptly to avoid any delays in receiving financial assistance.
Complete your enrollment worksheet for independent students. After the financial aid office receives your FAFSA results, you will be sent an email requesting that you complete the Enrollment Worksheet for Independent Students. If you are an independent student, both the FAFSA and enrollment worksheet must be completed prior to receiving financial aid.
Explore outside scholarships. The financial aid office maintains a list of scholarships and resources outside of the BW community that may provide additional financial support.

Accessing the Financial Aid Self-Service Portal

Once you've retrieved your BW username, log in to My Records where you be able to review your financial aid status, submit forms, etc.

Submit Final Transcripts or Course Review Information

It's very important to have any final transcripts sent or submit any course syllabi needed to ensure your transfer credit gets applied to your BW record. You can refer to your personalized transfer evaluation video in the Canvas course for details. If you received college credit from courses you took in high school, you will need to send official transcripts from the College/University that awarded the credit.

Confirm Employer Tuition Reimbursement

If your employer is helping you finance your education, sign up for the Tuition Reimbursement Payment Plan to pay your tuition at the end of the semester when your employer tuition benefit is available. Download and complete the TRPP forms.
