Mild to Moderate Intervention Specialist License (K-12)
PROGRAM UPDATE as of May 13, 2026:
This academic program is no longer admitting new students as a major at Baldwin Wallace University.
While students may no longer apply to earn a degree in this specific program, coursework in this subject area will continue to play an important role across other academic programs and interdisciplinary learning opportunities at BW. Current students enrolled in the major will continue to receive full support through completion of their degree requirements.
BW remains committed to providing students with a strong, future-focused education that connects disciplines, expands opportunities, and prepares graduates to be Leader-Ready, Career-Ready, and Future-Ready.
The intervention specialist license is 24 semester hours and can be completed on BW's campus or online. The license can be completed in 14 months.
Qualifications for Intervention Specialist License in Ohio
In Ohio, teachers seeking the intervention specialist license must complete the Ohio-mandated 12-hour reading core. While teachers are not required to have the reading core completed as they begin BW's mild/moderate educational needs program, they must have the reading core completed prior to applying for the intervention specialist license.
