Overview
With nearly 2,000 students who walk, bike, drive or take a bus to campus, commuter students are an important part of the Baldwin Wallace community. All students who do not live on campus are considered commuters, even if they reside in Berea.
The Office of Commuter Services (OCS) is committed to serving as a resource and source of connection for commuter students through programs and leadership opportunities that enrich the experience of a commuter student. The OCS also has Commuter Student Assistants (CSAs) who help guide new commuter students through their first semester at BW.
The Commuter Connection newsletter is published several times per year and provides helpful articles and tips about commuting as well as information about upcoming events on campus. Print copies are available in the Commuter Lounge and a digital version is available on MyBW.
Parking
Parking for students is available throughout campus. You must have a valid BW parking pass to park in any campus parking lot. A parking pass for commuter students is $35 per semester or $70 per year. For information on parking regulations and how to obtain a parking pass, visit Parking Services on MyBW. Free street parking is also available, though spaces are limited.
Public Transportation
The BW campus is accessible via Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (RTA) routes 86 and 68. The 86 route also connects to the Red Line at the Brookpark Rapid Station. Find your RTA route to BW.
Commuter Activity Board
The Commuter Activity Board (CAB) is a student programming organization for commuters. CAB provides commuter students with a voice in the Student Senate and sponsors various social activities for commuter students, such as bowling, cookouts, CABapalooza, and much more! See below for a list of events. The CAB office is located on the basement level of Strosacker Hall.
Interested in joining? Stop by the Student Activities Center (SAC) Thursdays at noon for CAB meetings along with all the pizza and pop you can eat and drink for $2.
Commuter Lounge
You don't have to go home to study when you are a commuter. The Commuter Lounge is a great place to study as well as socialize. Located on the first floor of Heritage Hall (114 Tressel Street), the lounge can be accessed with a valid ID card. The Commuter Lounge is available only to commuter students who may bring one guest.
The Commuter Lounge includes the following:
- Couches & chairs
- Lockers for storage while you are on campus - bring your own lock
- Refrigerator
- Microwave
- Bulletin boards with CAB events, CSA information and campus events
- Corn Holes (Rules for use and playing)
- Computers with email and printer access
- 42" flat screen TV with VCR/DVD
- The Commuter Connection newsletter copies
- Carpool Connection – a ride share board where commuters can ask for or offer a ride
Above all, the Commuter Lounge is a great place to meet other commuters!
Events
The OCS knows it takes a lot to be a commuter and you travel from all over the Greater Cleveland Area. So we offer many events for you as a commuter to enjoy while you are on campus! Visit Commuter Services on MyBW for a list of upcoming events.
