George L. Kiteley Memorial Scholarship
The George L. Kiteley Memorial Scholarship will assist percussion students at BW with demonstrated financial need in perpetuity.
George L. Kiteley became the first full-time professor of percussion at Baldwin-Wallace College in 1971 and remained in this position until his retirement in 2000. He also directed the Jazz Band for 20 years and founded Battu, a BW ensemble-in-residence focusing on world music.
George received the Bechberger Award for Human Development in 1990 alongside his wife, Janiece, in recognition of their exceptional contributions to student growth and development.
As a performer, George was timpanist and principal percussionist with the Ohio Chamber Orchestra and Cleveland Ballet and later with the subsequent “Red {An Orchestra}”. In recent years, George's performing included the Cleveland Pops Orchestra, Blossom Festival Band and many community ensembles. He played his final performance on August 20, 2025.
