About Buzzin' Black Friday

Buzzin' Black Friday is a Black History Month and American Entrepreneurship event that celebrates innovation and the spirit of business ownership. The event highlights entrepreneurship, creativity and growth across America.

The event was founded by Daisjah Brown '25 after she participated in a summer trip where she noticed how small businesses in other cities benefited from natural foot traffic and community presence. Back home in Cleveland, those same businesses existed but without the same access or exposure.

Inspired to make a difference, she returned to campus and created Buzzin' Black Friday to support entrepreneurs, provide opportunities for profit and exposure, and showcase what the Cleveland area has to offer to close that gap. Her vision was to build a space where businesses could thrive and connect.

Buzzin' Black Friday welcomes vendors of all backgrounds. Its mission remains in education, appreciation and recognition of the history that inspired it. Guests can explore a wide variety of vendors offering food, desserts, apparel, beauty products, art and more!

Annel Hodges '27, Mylea O'Neal '27 and Alexis Akins '26 are leading the event this year.
