Burrell Observatory Lecture Series
An (Abridged) Exoplanet Census
The Burrell Observatory is proud to host an open house program as part of the Reinhold and Margaret Kader Memorial Lecture Series.
Dr. Emily Safron of the Case Western Reserve University Astronomy Department will present a lecture on exoplanets. Exoplanets are planets orbiting other stars in our galaxy. Prior to 1992 we knew of no planets outside our solar system. Today we know of nearly 6,000. It is one of the most exciting areas of research in astronomy. Nearly every telescope on earth and in space has contributed to this research.
After the lecture, the observatory will be open for viewing, weather permitting.
Event is free and open to the public; however, tickets are required and donations are always appreciated.
