Susan Schoeffler

Susan Schoeffler is in her eighth year as staff accompanist at Baldwin Wallace University. At BW, she works with both singers and instrumentalists and plays for opera workshops and BW Conservatory classes.
She has extensive experience playing and coaching opera and art song, serving as pianist for productions of "The Barber of Seville" (Cleveland Opera Theater), "La Bohème" (Cleveland Opera Theater), "Glory Denied" (BW Opera Theater), "Dido and Aeneas" (BW Opera Theater), "The Barber of Seville" (Duke University) and as music director for BW Opera Theater’s production of "The Mikado." She spent two summers in Italy as a collaborative pianist with Oberlin in Italy (Arezzo, Italy), playing for productions and studying Italian language.
She brings an extensive knowledge of the instrumental repertoire as well, having served as accompanist at the Indiana University String Academy, the Cleveland Institute of Music and Cleveland State University. Ms. Schoeffler is also active as a chamber musician and has a close association with members of the Cleveland Orchestra, including long-time duo partner Kim Nolen-Gomez. The duo has performed at Severance Hall, Cleveland Institute of Music’s Mixon Hall and has been broadcast on WCLV.
Prior to joining Baldwin Wallace, Ms. Schoeffler was head of the piano department at Ashland University and served as adjunct faculty at Westminster College. Ms. Schoeffler holds BM and MM degrees from the Cleveland Institute of Music, where she was a pupil of Vitya Vronsky Babin and Sergei Babayan.
