Dr. Brian Monahan is an associate professor in the sociology and criminal justice department. Prior to joining the faculty at Baldwin Wallace, he was an associate professor and program director in the criminal justice program at Marywood University in Scranton, Pa.

His areas of research and teaching interest include criminology, social problems, media and crime, mass media, social deviance, symbolic interactionism and qualitative methods.  

Monahan has authored two books along with multiple journal articles and book chapters. He is a member of the Society for the Study of Social Problems and the American Society of Criminology.
