Ben Malkevitch has worked at the Baldwin Wallace Conservatory of Performing Arts as a vocal coach, pianist and now music director since fall 2019. They are equally at home in the worlds of musical theatre and classical vocal repertoire, but have also played broad swaths of instrumental and choral repertoire.
They have played for several touring shows at Playhouse Square, where they are a teaching artist for the Dazzle Awards, as well as orchestral piano with the Mansfield and Firelands Symphonies.
Malkevitch serves as music director and organist at Pilgrim Congregational Church in Cleveland, pianist for the Singers' Club of Cleveland, and librarian for the Cleveland Pops Orchestra.
In 2019, they were chorus master for CityMusic Cleveland's performance of Verdi's "Requiem," conducted by James Gaffigan.
Malkevitch founded and moderates Northeast Ohio Facebook groups to encourage networking and shared opportunities for musicians in the area.
In addition to playing, Malkevitch is also highly skilled as a music engraver and arranger. They have written English supertitles for dozens of operas. They graduated from the Cleveland Institute of Music, where they earned a Master of Music in Collaborative Piano, studying with Virginia Weckstrom.
