Kristin L. Kelly Koskey

Dr. Kristin L. Kelly Koskey is an assistant professor of psychology and the founding Director of the Measurement and Evaluation Lab (MEL) in the department of psychology. Before joining Baldwin Wallace, she spent 17 years teaching in higher education, mentoring undergraduate, master's and doctoral students while contributing to interdisciplinary research, measurement and evaluation initiatives across education, nonprofit, government and board certification organizations.

In her teaching, she emphasizes connecting psychological science to authentic, real-world contexts. She seeks to create experiential learning opportunities through undergraduate research, applied projects alongside community and industry partners, and the use of emerging technologies that foster analytical thinking, transferable skills and career-connected experiences.

Her scholarship explores the intersection of cognition, measurement science and evaluation, integrating cognitive theory and Rasch measurement models to advance the development and validation of instruments that assess cognitive, affective and behavioral constructs. Through interdisciplinary, design-based research, she collaborates with diverse teams to build validity evidence and translate research into practical solutions that enhance learning, improve practice and support informed decision-making across individual, program and organizational levels.

Committed to bridging scholarship and practice, she aims to engage undergraduate students in interdisciplinary research. Her professional experience includes serving as a research expert and trainer, collaborating with the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and community organizations, providing psychometric consulting for board certification organizations and contributing to federally funded research projects, including those supported by the National Science Foundation (NSF) and the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

She is the author or co-author of more than 55 peer-reviewed publications and serves as a Consulting Editor for Psychological Assessment, a journal of the American Psychological Association.
