Susanne Houstle (she/her) is a costume designer and educator originally from Cleveland, Ohio, with over 15 years of professional experience across theater, dance and film. Formerly based on the East Coast, she has worked extensively as a costume designer, assistant designer and costume maker in Boston and New York City.
Passionate about mentoring emerging artists, Houstle has taught at several universities in New Jersey and Massachusetts, including Drew University and Fairleigh-Dickinson University. She holds an M.F.A. in Costume Design from NYU's Tisch School of the Arts, where she was awarded a full-tuition fellowship.
Houstle's creative interests center on storytelling through devised work, immersive world-building and historical narratives. She is deeply committed to sustainability in the arts, often repurposing found materials and integrating vintage pieces into her designs.
