Fred DeGrandis is an experienced senior executive with more than 30 years of healthcare experience and successful leadership and governance of hospitals, health systems, physician groups, clinically integrated delivery networks, MSOs, and community and civic organizations. He is a lecturer in the Healthcare MBA program at Baldwin Wallace University, focusing on building leadership skills and team development. He also provides executive coaching services to several healthcare entities. DeGrandis is licensed to practice law by the Ohio Supreme Court.
DeGrandis previously served in various senior executive offices, including the first president and chief executive officer of the Cleveland Clinic’s regional hospitals, the CEO and president of the Cleveland Clinic Western region hospitals, president of the Cleveland Clinic Health Network, CEO, president and senior advisor of Sheikh Khalifa Medical City in the United Arab Emirates; the first chair of the Cleveland Clinic Community Physician Partnership and Quality Alliance. He also served as president and CEO at St. John Medical Center, COO and chief legal counsel of Lakewood Hospital and the managing director of the Global Center of Health Innovation. He has served as an executive coach for Cancer Treatment Centers of America, Cleveland Clinic and Accession Health.
He currently serves as a trustee of the Cleveland Clinic Foundation; trustee of Cleveland Clinic Fairview Hospital; chair and director of the Visiting Nurse Association of Ohio; vice chair and director of the National ALS Association; board secretary and director of Gateway for Cancer; past chair and current director of the Catholic Community Foundation; director of the YMCA of Greater Cleveland and director of the Neighborhood Family Practice, a Federally Qualified Health Center.
Previous governance experiences include serving as the chair of the Ohio Hospital Board of Trustees; chair of the Ohio University Centers for Osteopathic Education; chair of the Governance Council of Sheikh Khalifa Medical City; chair of the Cleveland Clinic Quality Alliance; director of the Cancer Treatment Centers of America; director of Accession Health and founding member of the Northern Ohio Trauma System. He also served as an elected member and president of the Rocky River School Board, a member of Rocky River City Council, a member of the Board of Directors of Baldwin Wallace University and the Board of Regents of St. Ignatius High School.
