Patrice Cokley

Patrice K. Cokley is a music industry professional and educator with more than 15 years of experience in music marketing and entertainment business.

She built much of her career in Chicago as the founder of The Bassline Group. Through her company, she has worked with independent recording artists and entertainment professionals on music marketing and artist development. Her industry experience also includes working with Dr. Mathew Knowles of Music World Entertainment and father of global superstar Beyoncé.

Cokley's teaching career began at SAE Institute in Chicago, where she taught music business courses and was recognized as Mentor of the Year in 2019. She later joined Baldwin Wallace University as an adjunct professor and previously served as Interim Music Industry Area Coordinator.

Today she teaches "Principles of Marketing in the Music Industry" with a focus on real-world application. She believes students learn best when they can connect what happens in the classroom to what happens in the industry.

For Cokley, teaching is about more than sharing knowledge. It's about making an impact. She is committed to helping students build confidence in their abilities and develop the skills they need to create their own opportunities in the music business.
