Remembering Our Why

December 8, 2025

“When you know your why, you’ll know your way” – Michael Hyatt

Good morning BW,

In the midst of our day-to-day work as faculty and staff, and as we support BW in Building What's Next as a BW community, it’s important to keep in mind why all of us are here at BW – to educate a new generation of leaders who will make this a Better World.

At Baldwin Wallace, our mission is student success. It's our Why.

As our first semester together comes to a close, I’ve had the privilege of spending time with many of our students, and each engagement and encounter lifts my spirits and reminds me of our enduring mission.

Over the past several weeks, I’ve had the opportunity to overnight in Constitution Residence Hall, initiate “Lunch with Lee” and “Pizza with the Pres,” play Mr. Tinsworthy in the Music Theater production “9 to 5,” serve turkey and stuffing at “Friendsgiving,” see the work of our computing, engineering, math, and sciences students at their annual showcase, and watch this past Saturday’s amazing annual Holiday Concert featuring the beautiful music and voices of our students under the direction of our Conservatory faculty.

I'm listening every day to our students’ thoughts and concerns and learning from their perspectives. Every time we connect, I am inspired and reminded why we do what we do.

A reminder to our December graduates: You’re a Yellow Jacket For Life, so please help us stay connected with you as you embark on your next chapter by completing this survey here: BW’s First Destination Survey
