Admission to this graduate program is selective. The admission committee carefully reviews the academic preparation and achievements of each candidate for admission. Applicants who earned their degree in the United States must have attended regionally accredited colleges or universities. Candidates with degrees earned from foreign institutions must have their academic transcripts translated and verified by World Education Services (WES) as part of the application process.
Competitive candidates for admission will have a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale in all college and graduate work.
Recommended Prerequisites
While students in the MPH program have completed degrees in a many disciplines and been employed in a wide range of careers, the MPH programs recommends that candidates should have taken some coursework in social and behavioral sciences, human biology and math or statistics.

Please submit official transcripts from ALL colleges and universities attended. To be considered official, transcripts must be mailed - electronic or hard copy - directly from the college/university attended to the Baldwin Wallace University Office of Admission.

Using the recommendation form within the online applicant portal, please provide two professional or personal recommendations from people qualified to evaluate your background and potential for success in a graduate public health program. Recommendations may come from a healthcare professional, supervisor, college professor or work colleague. Select people who are familiar with your achievements and goals in terms of leadership, motivation and dependability, potential for growth, communication skills, character and integrity. Recommendations should not be completed by any member of your immediate family.
For MetroHealth employees, at least one recommendation must be from a work colleague or supervisor at MetroHealth Systems. - Resume

As part of the selection process, please submit a current resume or summary of your work history using the online applicant portal. If you are currently employed, be sure that your resume includes your current title, general position responsibilities and the division or department in which you are employed. The resume may be submitted as an attachment to the online application, or you may submit it separately to the BW admission office at graduate@bw.edu.

In a written statement, briefly explain how your personal goals and professional objectives will be met by pursuing graduate study in the Master of Public Health program. The personal statement may be submitted as a part of the online application or you can submit it separately to the BW admission office at graduate@bw.edu.
- International Students

English Proficiency Requirement
Upon initial application review, the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) exam may be required if English is a second language. Minimum TOEFL score (IBT 79, CBT 213, PBT 550) or IELTS (composite 6.5) must be achieved. Register to take the TOEFL.
The score levels above are recommended but not required. Students whose English language skills need development are encouraged to complete an ESL program through the LADO International Institute.
Colleges and Universities Attended Outside the United States
Candidates who have attended foreign institutions must provide the Baldwin Wallace Admission Office with documents translated into English as well as an evaluation of completed courses from World Education Services (WES).
International Student Certification of Financial Support
Using the statement of financial support from within the online applicant portal, international students must also submit a statement of financial support from the applicant's bank showing acceptable funds on account to support tuition and living expenses while studying at BW.
- Interview by Invitation

Once all application credentials are received by the admission office, the admission committee will review each candidate's application, and strong candidates will be contacted to meet with a member or members of the MPH program for an interview.
- Criminal Record

When applying for admission to the Master of Public Health program, candidates are asked whether they have ever been found guilty of a misdemeanor or felony that was not expunged or sealed. Candidates with a criminal record that has not been expunged or sealed are not eligible for enrollment in the MPH program at Baldwin Wallace University. All students who enroll in the MPH program are required to complete both a civilian and a federal background check through the Bureau of Criminal Identification & Investigation (BCI&I). Forms and details will be provided to all students who qualify for admission to the program. Although students with an expunged record may be eligible for enrollment and practicum placement in BW’s MPH program, an expunged or sealed record may impact a student’s eligibility to qualify for a professional license following completion of the program. Eligibility for a professional license such as Certified Public Health (CPH) is assessed by the professional licensing board.
