Endowed Scholarships (for diverse students)

Available Named BW Scholarships that are Awarded Annually by the College 

Dr. Obie and Betty Bender Scholarship

An award designated for students who are from under-represented groups, especially whose hometown is from the greater Canton, Ohio area and who has demonstrated need for financial assistance.  A limited number of awards are available and, depending on past commitment of funds, in some years, no new award may be made available.  Average award amount: $750.

Ruth Lapp Johnson Class of 39 Scholarship 

This award is designated for qualified students residing in the City of Cleveland who have documented financial need, majoring in either education or business, and has a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or better.  This award is also limited in the number of annual recipients and based upon a previous commitment of funds in previous years, no new award may be made available in any given year.  Average award amount is $900. 

Bertha Starkey Scholarship

This scholarship recognizes the student educational contributions of Asian Americans and is awarded each year to an Asian or Asian-American student who has documented financial need and who demonstrates scholastic ability.  The award is limited in the number of scholarships that can be made available each year, and depending on past financial commitments, in any given year no new award may be made.  The average award amount is $700.

Sally J. Wein Scholarship

This award is provided to those students with Native American origin and who have documented financial need and scholarship ability.  The award is limited to small number of scholarships and depending on previous financial commitments, in any given year no new award may be made.  The average award amount is $1,500.
