Mariah KleemMajor: Early childhood education

Favorite quote: "Life always gives you a second chance. It's called tomorrow."

Biggest mistake as a first-year student? What did you learn? Trying to overload on work, school and activities. I learned that time management is a real thing, and it is an important thing.

How did you choose your major? I always knew that education was what I wanted to pursue; I love knowing that I am going to make an impact on a child's life.

What has been your best experience at BW? Being able to be an orientation leader, helping first year students feel comfortable in coming to BW, and helping them find connections with others.

Favorite spot on campus? I may be a little biased from working in the Cyber Café, but it gives you the opportunity to study, play pool, talk with friends, eat ice cream, and most importantly, drink coffee.

Best piece of advice given to you? My grandma told me, "Just be who you are. There is no other you."

One thing you want the incoming students to know as they get ready for their summer orientation experience? Try to have an open mind when doing the ice-melters, and try not to have your guard up, because you will make so many connections with other first-year students during orientation.
