weeks
they
researched,
navigated
and
broke
new
ground
in
their
studies.
They
challenged
themselves
and
others
to
develop
new
viewpoints
as
they
worked
together
on
projects
that
were
real-world
focused
and
relevant
to
their
studies.
As this year's 10 Summer Scholars near the end of the program, they are a step ahead in gaining the insights and experiences that can prepare them for future endeavors, such as graduate school or a career.
Summer Scholars is an annual cohort program that enables students to pursue a research or creative project of their own design under the supervision of a faculty mentor. The scholars live together on campus and share their research with one another.

is
using
the
opportunity
to
bridge
her
majors
of
music
composition
and
piano
performance
with
her
family's
culture
through
the
development
of
a
10-minute
orchestra
piece.
Patrick
Woller
'20,
another
scholar,
is
gaining
outstanding
research
experience
in
preparation
for
graduate
school.
He
also
is
benefiting

Robert Daniels '19 (Brook Park, Ohio) A neuroscience-psychology major, he worked with Dr. Claire Mathes on "Establishing a Neurobiological and Behavioral Model of Alzheimer Disease in Rats."
Andrew Dyet '19 (Grand Island, New York) A music composition and music history and literature major, he worked with Dr. Jonathan Sokol on "Establishing Revolutionary New Music Pedagogy at the BW Conservatory."
Jessica Edwards '19 (North Versailles, Pennsylvania) An exercise science and pre-physical therapy major, she worked with Dr. Amy-Jo Sutterluety on the "Investigation of Improvements in Balance and Self-Efficacy following a 10-Session Balance Intervention Program in Individuals with Gross Motor Function Classification System Level II Cerebral Palsy."

Destinee Siebe '19 (Sheperdsville, Kentucky) A music history and literature major, she worked with Dr. Danielle Kuntz on "'A Day in Arcady' and the Women's Literature of the Reimenschneider Bach Institute."
