Baldwin Wallace University's new Business Research Center

Baldwin Wallace University students and faculty now have insider access to global financial markets, thanks to the opening of the new BW Business Research Center.

This dynamic, multipurpose space in Kamm Hall, which is easily configured for lectures, independent research and student groups, features 12 new terminals equipped with Bloomberg Professional service – the software platform that has become industry standard in the financial and business sectors.

With just a few clicks of a mouse, students and faculty now have full access to the same data used by leading professionals to make real-world business decisions. The platform also offers a global news service, electronic trading, a host of analytics features and a certification program.

Curriculum Integration and Bloomberg Certification

Baldwin Wallace University's new Business Research CenterStarting in the fall, the terminals will be fully integrated into finance and accounting curricula, with students in those programs achieving full Bloomberg certification through Bloomberg Market Concepts.

"The Bloomberg certification is highly valued in the financial services industry," said John Lanigan, dean of the BW School of Business. "The experience our students will gain using this robust set of business tools should help them to stand out in a highly competitive job market."

BW’s student-led Investment Club, which manages a real, six-figure endowment account, will use the software to inform its investment decisions. Students and faculty from all areas of the University also are able to use the software for research and to seek certification.

Powered by Alumni Generosity

Baldwin Wallace University's new Business Research CenterThe Bloomberg licenses and vibrant, new Business Research Center were made possible by a generous gift from BW Trustee and School of Business alumnus Stephen Boesel ’68.

Boesel knows a little something about financial market research. He is a retired president and investment committee chair for the T. Rowe Price Associates Growth and Income Fund and Capital Appreciation Fund, which he shepherded through a steady, unparalleled winning streak.

"Steve wanted our students to have access to the real-time data that professional business analysts and investors use, and his generosity made it happen," said Lanigan. "Our students and faculty are grateful for Steve’s continuing support."
