Chisomo SelemaniChisomo Selemani, both a BW alumna and assistant professor of communication sciences and disorders, was selected from approximately 300 candidates worldwide to serve as a Next Einstein Forum (NEF) ambassador. Professor Selemani is part of a team of NEF ambassadors comprised of the scientists, policymakers and social leaders, each representing one of 54 African nations.

Selemani was appointed to represent her native country of Zambia. She and the other ambassadors attended a biennial NEF Global Gathering in Senegal in the spring, are each conducting projects and hosting events to explore innovation and change in Africa, and stay connected via social media and email.

Cultural Conversation with Students

One of Selemani’s NEF events was aimed at students at BW. “This project gave me the opportunity to engage our students in a cultural conversation and is in line with BW’s mission to train global citizens,” she said.

Following her graduation from BW, Selemani earned her Master’s in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Case Western University before returning to her undergraduate alma mater. In addition to her teaching duties at BW, Selemani coordinates an emerging study abroad experience for BW’s speech language pathology graduate students in Zambia.
