Broadway Snaps up Talented BW Music Theatre Student Before he Graduates

November 23, 2016

Just when you thought BW's rising music theatre stars couldn't punch a ticket to Broadway any faster, one Baldwin Wallace Music Theatre student has booked one of the "buzziest" new shows on the Great White Way--early in his senior year!

Colton Ryan '17, who just wrapped up a starring role as Tony in BW's production of "West Side Story" (on the heels of a run in Great Lakes Theater's "My Fair Lady"), is now packing his bags for New York City after being chosen as the main standby for the title role in "Dear Evan Hansen" at The Music Box Theatre.

Colton is still on target to graduate with his '17 classmates next spring, and he even insisted that time off for BW's May Commencement be written into his first Broadway contract!

Ryan told Cleveland Plain Dealer/cleveland.com Onstage that he's a bit bummed out to be leaving his Music Theatre family so soon but adds, "This is the dream for me."
