Film Studies alumna Dia Griffiths '14 wrote and directed a short film that has already won two awards.

Film Studies Alumna Takes Short Film to Festivals, Wins Recognition

Dia Griffiths ’14, a film studies alumna, collaborated with her colleague Stephen Hanson to create an eight-minute short film. The film, “The Croquet Calamity” is tagged with the words “A croquet game, a tea party and a pirate. What could go wrong?” Griffiths was the writer and director of the piece while Hanson worked as director of photography.04-26-Croquet-Calamity-Poster

The film was selected to show at Cut to the Chase Film Festival in Shepardstown, WV, where it won Best Film, as well as the Colony Short Film Festival in Marietta, Ohio where it won Best Local Film.

It also was screened at the Plum Tuckered Film Festival in Davis, W. Va., as well as the online Movie Park Film Festival where it was streamed in late April.

Griffiths has spent the past two years working on a variety of projects from commercials to scripted TV. Some highlights include The Making of the Mob, NASCAR: Rise of American Speed, and the AMC mini-series The West.
