BWMT Class of 2016

Music Theatre seniors took New York by storm this past week, performing in a showcase that wowed Broadway casting directors and agents.

Music Theatre Seniors Show Their Spark at Showcase

April 21, 2016

Music Theatre seniors perform in New York showcaseOne of the culminating experiences for BW Music Theatre seniors is the whirlwind annual showcase week in The Big Apple. Like students who came before them in the nationally celebrated program, the Class of 2016 spent four years honing their triple threat skills and then showed off all that polished talent during four performances in New York City. The ultimate goal is to catch the eye of leading talent agents and casting directors who flock to the BW events in the hunt for the future Broadway stars they expect to come from BW's respected program.

Under the direction of Victoria Bussert, with support from  choreographer Greg Daniels and music director David Pepin, BW Music Theatre's reputation and success has flourished. A phenomenal  100 percent of the BW "MT" graduates have been signed by top agents for the past six years.

Showcase week also brings the graduating class together with a close community of successful BW Music Theatre graduates living and working in New York. This year, that included a collaborative Broadway Sessions performance at the Laurie Beechman Theater featuring BW alumni, WICKED's Libby Servais, ALADDIN star Steel BurkhardtKINKY BOOTS angel Kyle Post and Broadway star turned television superhero Ciara Renee (BIG FISH, PIPPIN, HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME, The CW's Legends of Tomorrow). Broadway World posted a story with video clips of a memorable night of BW Broadway Sessions performances.

Upcoming BW Music Theatre Performances

You can still catch the seniors performing their spectacular showcase one last time at Nighttown on May 2. The show starts at 7 p.m. and tickets are only $10.

Other upcoming opportunities to catch a BW rising star include the regional premiere of The Theory of Relativity, an unconventional new musical playing Friday-Sunday, April 29 through May 1 at the Helen Theatre at Cleveland's acclaimed Playhouse Square; and BW's freshmen music theatre majors presenting their first showcase on May 1 at 2 p.m. in BW's John Patrick Theatre, Kleist Center for Art & Drama.
