BW widens' the welcome mat for international students, offering ESL classes through a new BW branch of the LADO International Institute.

Partnership Brings English Instruction and New International Students to BW

August 5, 2015

LADO ESL studentsAfter more than 45 years of operating language schools successfully in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, LADO International Institute has partnered with BW to provide English language courses that will help international students achieve their academic and professional goals.

“Because English mastery is crucial to student success, BW is pleased to forge a partnership that will make high quality ESL instruction available on our Berea campus,” said BW President Robert C. Helmer.

“We’re excited to welcome LADO and new international students into our University community,” he added.

Intensive Programs Foster Crucial English Mastery

The new BW/LADO branch will offer 85.5-hour intensive English programs in the mornings and afternoons. Sessions will be held in the fall of 2015 as well as spring and summer of 2016. Admission will be open year round.

“The BW campus setting offers international students seeking to learn English the unique opportunity to study and experience American college life,” said LADO CEO Francisco Barrera. “It also opens the door for those students to matriculate at BW and complete a college degree in the U.S.”

Total Approach Developed by Linguist, Dr. Robert Lado

The BW/LADO branch will offer the “Total Approach” method developed by LADO founder and linguist, Dr. Robert Lado. The approach appeals to different learning styles and takes into consideration the native language, culture, and education of the student to foster successful outcomes in small classroom settings.

At BW, LADO will offer classes in the high intermediate to advanced English proficiency range as well as selective college preparatory classes. LADO is authorized, under Federal Law, to enroll students with F-1 Visas. Students seeking to experience American family life will be offered homestay packages.
