“My internship with the 49ers has been everything I dreamed of and more. The players, coaches, staff, and overall organization have been nothing but great to me,” says Spencer, who is pictured on the sideline with 49ers wide receiver Anquan Boldin, on the team plane with running back Reggie Bush, and in the stadium with a fellow intern.

“I could not ask for a better opportunity,” he adds.

Browns, Cavs Internships Open Doors

Eager to build a career in professional sports, Spencer applied to every NFL team as graduation neared. He says Browns’ staffers vouched for him when the 49ers expressed interest.

Spencer jumped at the chance to gain full-time work experience in his chosen field and headed to the West Coast for a gig as team logistics intern with the 49ers.

BW Faculty and Staff "Pushed for the Best"

Spencer credits BW sport management professors Charles Campisi and Alvy Styles for helping him “to prepare for the real world sport industry, ” adding they always “pushed for the best.”

“Dr.Campisi and Dr. Styles were two main motivators as they really hard-pressed the importance of networking and gaining actual experience in sport through volunteering and landing internships,” he explains.

He adds that the opportunity to work alongside BW Sports Information managers Kevin Ruple and Jeff Miller also was key. “They gave me a chance to work alongside them as a shy freshman and taught me so much until the day I graduated.”

Cleveland Homecoming "Circled on my Schedule"

“Coming back to Cleveland with a different NFL organization is going to be awesome. It's been circled on my schedule ever since I landed the internship,” he said. “Not only do I get to see family and friends, but all the people I got to know and work with at the Browns for the past two and a half years.”
