Baldwin Wallace University Student Emergency Fund

Give Today

Grant awards supported by donor gifts will assist students with financial difficulties resulting from Coronavirus (COVID-19) or other one-time hardships.

For some BW students, the announcement that students will leave campus and begin remote instruction brings unexpected financial hardships. Extra gas money or a plane ticket to get home, finding a reliable laptop, shipping or storing items while away – even paying for groceries and utilities while residence halls are closed may be challenging.

In response to students who may experience financial emergencies, Baldwin Wallace University has established a Student Emergency Grant Program. Grant awards supported by donor gifts will assist students with financial difficulties resulting from Coronavirus (COVID-19) or other one-time hardships. In many instances, a small amount of financial assistance enables a student to overcome a hurdle that may otherwise prevent them from completing courses and remaining on track towards graduation.

Emergency grants can cover the following expenses:

  • Unmet technology needs required for remote instruction
  • Unexpected travel expenses related to their BW experience
  • Food and groceries while enrolled in classes
  • Childcare while enrolled in classes
  • Safety needs, including temporary housing or changing locks
  • Replacement of belongings, including textbooks, due to fire, theft or a natural disaster
  • Housing and utility costs while enrolled in classes
  • Emergency medical or dental bills

A quick response team at BW will work closely with students to make grant determinations. Grants will be directly paid to the third party or vendor.

To qualify recipients must:

  • Be a full-time, undergraduate degree-seeking Baldwin Wallace student in good academic standing.
  • Have demonstrated need as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
  • Provide documentation of their need, through receipts, billing statements, etc.
