Young Alumni Giving

As a BW grad, you are a Yellow Jacket for Life (YJ4L)! Even as you navigate life right after graduation — whether that's searching for a job, attending graduate school, moving to a new city, tackling student loans or even starting a family of your own — you are a part of a community connected to each other and this institution. More importantly as Baldwin Wallace University's Young Alumni, or graduates of the last ten years, you make up over 20 percent of our alumni population. Simply put, your generous support when combined TOGETHER can make a HUGE impact on BW. Not only that, but your gift means more than just what it purchases. It signifies that the Young Alumni of BW appreciate the philanthropy that impacted their time at BW and want to pay-it-forward for the future of the University.

You don't have to give thousands of dollars to make a difference. Just see how gifts of all sizes affect our community:

  • $6 = cost of whistles for intramural sports on campus
  • $25 = cost of a music score for the Jones Music Library
  • $50 = cost to give students access to ceramic kilns for the semester
  • $59.99 = cost of a subscription to the Wall Street Journal for use by business students
  • $100 = cost of puzzles and games used by communication disorders students providing speech therapy to clients
  • $250 = cost to send multiple HPE students to the American College of Sports Medicine conference
  • $500 = cost for 20 students to present research at professional conference through the Undergraduate Research and Creative Studies Program

We know giving right out of college can be tough, but don't take our word for it. Hear from other Young Alumni who have chosen to give back to BW, whether it's $5 or $50, and why they feel it's important to make BW a priority.

"The name of a university is only as strong as the people who come from it. As young professionals, we must continue to be self-advocates of the University and increase the notoriety of the name. We have numerous ways to create that buzz (no pun intended) about our University. As a graduate, it's my responsibility to promote BW in the highest ranks of educational institutions and when doing so, completely invest myself in my convictions to others. We need to understand the importance of giving back to the place we consider home."
—Brian Boveington '10, Athletic Academic Coordinator, Florida Gulf Coast University

"The best thing that has ever happened to me is that I got the opportunity to attend BW and call it my home for many years. I am so fortunate that I got to meet so many great people, and that alumni gave me opportunities in terms of scholarships and network connections that I used for internships. I said to myself when I graduated that I wanted to provide those same opportunities to students because honestly, nothing made me happier than when there was an email that I was picked for a scholarship or that I obtained an internship because of a connection I made at the Career Fair with a BW alum."
—Cory McComas '13, Investment Consultant, CBIZ
