Dance Concert

BW choreographers are also using movement to explore and illustrate Dr. Barahona's research in a dance concert titled "fyoo zh en '23: Sumagsisa, Beautiful Flower." The show runs Wednesday-Saturday, February 22-25, at 7:30 p.m.

About Dr. Karen Barahona

Photo of Karen BarahonaDr. Barahona is an associate professor of Spanish at Baldwin Wallace University. Her area of expertise is Latin American literature of the 20th-21st centuries with a focus on studies of testimony, gender, identity, memory and revolution in women's fiction.

Recent publications include the articles: "Organización de mujeres Sumagsisa: Dinámica del feminismo 'desde abajo.'" Hispanic Journal. Vol. 42, (1), Spring 2021; "La representación de la mujer como sujeto histórico cultural en No me agarran viva de Claribel Alegría y La mujer habitada de Gioconda Belli."
