Free and open to the public.

Visiting from France, Ensemble Variances performs “Walking in Beauty/The Beauty Way,” a concert-ritual dedicated to the medicine and visions of the Navajo and the Sioux, reflected by the chants of Hildegard von Bingen. Their performances are about experiencing the music, being touched by the deeper layers you will never get to know by just using your ears. Composer Thierry Pécou’s work has been described as going to a prayer service at a monastery, an almost ritualistic atmosphere that encourages a state of meditation or pure focus.

Co-sponsored by the Academic and Cultural Events Series (ACES) and the Conservatory of Music.

BW's Academic and Cultural Events Series (ACES) is highlighted by the World Music Series, featuring globally diverse musicians who often bring colorful cultural costumes, authentic indigenous instruments, and, always, exceptional artistry. ACES helps to coordinate BW's annual observances for Martin Luther King Jr. Week, Black History Month and Hispanic Heritage Month, too.
