Religious thinkers provide new portals onto the landscape of the soul. Poet-artists like the Welsh visionary, David Jones, the American monk Thomas Merton, as well as the spiritual Dutch magister and psychologist Henri Nouwen, allow for a fresh or pure seeing in an atrophied and restricted world. We need them more than ever in our tremulous times.
