Voyager: Earth’s Interstellar Ambassador

Presentation by Jeffrey M. Woytach of NASA Glenn Research Center on the Voyager space crafts that have left the solar system into interstellar space after a 40+ year journey.

Launched in 1977, and traveling over 30,000 miles per hour, they are now 11 billion miles from home. How do we know that Voyager has reached interstellar space? Are the spacecraft still working? How long will they continue to function? And did you know that it was the Glenn Research Center who sent them on their way from Earth?!

The Lecture will be held in the Center for Innovation and Growth (CIG). After the lecture, the Burrell Observatory will be open for viewing, weather permitting. Parking is available next to and behind CIG and adjacent to the Observatory off of Fifth Avenue West.

The lecture is free and open to the public.
