BW Women's Chorus
Director, Jordan Saul
The women's chorus is under the direction of Jordan Saul, associate director of choral studies and assistant professor of choral music education at BW.
For High School-Age Women and Up
The BW Women's Chorus is an offering of the BW Community Music School and is open to women throughout the Greater Cleveland community including BW faculty, staff and students.
The chorus performs a wide variety of chorale literature written especially for the female voice. This includes choral masterworks both classic and contemporary, and also Broadway and pop. It is helpful (though not required) to have some background in music (instrumental or vocal) and a basic knowledge of music reading and pitch matching. Of paramount importance is a willing spirit and open mind—come and sing with us!
Cost: $100 per semester plus a $15 registration fee.
Register and Pay now! (online registration for current and accepted women's chorus members only)
Registration Policy for New Members: Payment in full must accompany all ensemble registrations prior to the start of each semester, unless a payment plan has been approved by the registrar. Ensemble payments can be made online, over the phone with a credit card or by mailing in a payment that clearly states the ensemble and the student's name. Community Music School staff will be at the first ensemble rehearsals to confirm that payment has been received, or to collect payment before rehearsal begins.
Location: Boesel Muscial Arts Center, Kadel Hall, Room 149
Time: Mondays, 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Schedule: Rehearsals begin Monday, January 25, 2016, Full 2015-2016 Rehearsal Schedule
Those interested in being a part of the ensemble should contact Lisa Manning, program coordinator, at email@example.com. Not to worry—it's very easy, brief and fun! The audition consists of a voice/range check, singing a scale, singing back pitches and a few short sight-reading passages. Sight-reading is not a make-or-break issue, so if it is not your forte, you should still come and sing with us. You do not need to prepare a piece, though you will be asked to sing a portion of a song that is familiar to you. Each audition takes about ten minutes.
Spring 2016 Audition Dates will be January 13, 2016 from 4-7 p.m. Call (440) 826-2365 for details or fill out the online request form. Please contact Lisa Manning at firstname.lastname@example.org if the January 13 date does not work for you.
