Group Voice Lessons

AGES 13 - 18

A wonderful way to participate in the study of voice in a group setting which will build confidence and self-esteem in the young high-school singer. Class will deal with basic vocal technique including positive breathing habits, posture, good diction, phrasing and interpretation of song literature. OMEA song repertoire will be taught as well as musical theater selections. Purchase of songbook is required. Minimum class size: 5 students, Maximum class size: 8 students

Class Times: Tuesdays or Wednesdays, 5 – 5:30 p.m.
Fall 2016 Schedule: (15 weeks) August 23 or 24 – December 6 or 7. No lessons November 23 – 27 due to Thanksgiving break
Spring 2017 Schedule: (15 weeks) January 10 or 11 – May 9 or 10. No lessons March 7 - 12 due to spring break
Location: BMAC 006, The Boesel Musical Arts Center, 49 Seminary Street, Berea Ohio

Class Times: Saturdays 9:30 a.m. or 10 a.m.
Fall 2016 Schedule (15 weeks): August 27 – December 10. No lessons November 23 – 27 due to Thanksgiving break
Spring 2017 Schedule: (15 weeks): January 14 – May 13. No lessons March 7 - 12 due to spring break

Tuition: $180 (excluding purchase of songbook) plus a one-time $22 registration fee per academic year.

A short voice hearing with the instructor, prior to registration for the class, is required.

Faculty

Norma Codispoti, voice private lesson teacher, is a mezzo-soprano with a Bachelor of Music Education and Bachelor of Music in voice performance from Baldwin Wallace University. She also has her Master of Music in voice performance from The Ohio State University. Codispoti has 17 opera roles to her credit, including two world premieres, and she has performed with Opera Columbus, Youngstown Opera and Cleveland Opera. She has also concertized with Akron Symphony and Ohio Chamber Orchestra. She has taught teen and adult voice classes, vocal pedagogy and private voice for teens and adults at the Beck Center and, since 1980, for the Community Music School. Her students have gone on to perform nationally in opera, music theatre and major choral groups and have been major winners of competitions. Codispoti's teachers include Sophie Ginn at Baldwin Wallace Conservatory and Eleanor Steber in New York City. She has been an administrative officer in the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) Foundation, president and secretary of the Ohio Buckeye Chapter, and she is currently the Great Lakes liaison member. Codispoti has served on the governing council of the Art Song Festival at Baldwin Wallace Conservatory.
