Women for the Extraordinary

Women for the Extraordinary is a support organization of Baldwin Wallace University. Building on the legacy established by the Baldwin Wallace Women's Club, founded in 1921, the group strengthens the course of women’s philanthropy through the power of programming, engagement, and collective giving. A strong and inclusive group of informed women will create opportunities for future generations of BW students. The power of many women giving together has a significant impact. Women for the Extraordinary members benefit from three specific areas: Giving Circle, programming, and student and peer networking.

Membership

Membership is open to all Baldwin Wallace alumnae and friends. To participate in the Giving Circle, Women for the Extraordinary members will commit to an annual contribution of $500 and hold one vote to determine where Faculty & Staff Special Projects and Student Academic Enrichment awards are allocated each year. Women under 40 years of age may participate for an annual contribution of $250.

If a member cannot meet the $500 threshold, the individual may still donate to the Giving Circle fund but does not earn voting rights. The member is encouraged to attend any Women for the Extraordinary events but may be required to pay a registration fee, when applicable.

If a member chooses to give $1,000 or higher, the donor would be invited to the annual James A. Wallace Dinner and other leadership donor activities. Members are encouraged to continue their typical philanthropic giving to the University.

Giving Circle

The Giving Circle has two segments for annual disbursement with 75% of funds allocated to Faculty & Staff Special Projects and 25% of funds allocated as Student Academic Enrichment grants.

Faculty & Staff Special Projects - 75%

Faculty & Staff proposals focus on curricular and approved student experiential learning opportunities. Proposals require approval of department chair prior to submission. Project funding will be determined by voting members.

Student Academic Enrichment Grants - 25%

Awards will be $2,000 each and any remaining funds will be placed into the endowment. Recipients are determined by voting members as an award. Honoring the current Women's Club legacy, all recipients will be female.

Programming

Women for the Extraordinary presents several opportunities annually for social, educational, and arts related events already established through the Baldwin Wallace cultural calendar.

Women for the Extraordinary members are invited to exclusive pre- and post-event receptions (i.e. Innovation Summit, music theatre productions, speaker's series events).

Peer and Student Networking

Meetings and networking opportunities will take place as determined by the Women for the Extraordinary steering committee.

Student networking and mentorship opportunities will arise as appropriate as programming evolves.

Baldwin Wallace alumnae and friends are encouraged to participate in any Women for the Extraordinary programing and engagement events. A minimal registration fee may be required, when applicable.
