Students seeking an initial teaching license and masters are required to complete both on-campus and online courses.

MAEd in Literacy Program Features

  • The literacy program includes 50 hours of field experience, including a practicum in which students work with children who have been referred for reading difficulties. Students will evaluate, plan and implement remedial programs for them.
  • Courses are designed to produce an endorsement on the Ohio teaching certificate in PK-12 reading as established by the Ohio Department of Education.
  • Successful completion of Ohio Department of Education approved exam(s) is required for teachers to quality for the PK-12 reading endorsement.
  • The PK-12 reading endorsement meets Ohio's Third Grade Reading Guarantee requirements. The endorsement positions teachers to assess, plan for and implement programs that increase students' literacy skills.
