Welcome to the MAEd leadership in higher education program. This page provides instructions on pre-enrollment requirements to help you transition to your graduate program at Baldwin Wallace University.
Finalize Your Enrollment
- Set Up Your BW Account
-
The BW network access gives you access to Canvas and lots of online resources you’ll use as a member of the BW community. Please note, as a member of the LHE program, students will receive faculty/staff email accounts. The LHE director will coordinate this process for establishing these specific email accounts.
If you have not set up your account yet, please go to myaccount.bw.edu and confirm your identity. You will need your BW student ID number, which is printed on your letter of admission. If you need help with your student ID, contact the admission office at (440) 826-8012 or graduate@bw.edu.
- Send Final Transcripts to BW
-
Students admitted with coursework pending (final degree) need to send a final, official transcript to BW’s Office of Admission no later than August 11, 2023.
Transcripts can be sent electronically to admit@bw.edu or to:

Program Costs
Tuition, books, and parking are included in the program costs for full-time students. Part-time students will pay for this program per credit hour. Part-time students are also responsible for parking and books throughout the duration of the program.
LHE Costs and Financial Aid - Full-Time
LHE Costs and Financial Aid - Part-Time
Fellowship Award for Full-Time Students
Each year, new and returning full-time students who are in good academic standing receive a $10,000 fellowship award that is applied directly to tuition. Over the course of the two-year program, these awards significantly reduce the overall program costs.
Financial Aid
To apply for a federal direct student loan and/or graduate PLUS loan, complete the FAFSA annually. BW’s Federal ID code is 003014. For the first year of the program, complete the 2023-24 FAFSA.
Graduate PLUS loans are available to help LHE students finance any remaining educational costs not covered by federal direct student loans, including program costs and estimated living expenses as determined by the financial aid process. If you have further questions or wish to talk with a financial aid representative at BW, please contact: (440) 826-2108 or finaid@bw.edu.
LHE Program Onboarding
- Orientation
-
Orientation dates and times are still being confirmed. The LHE program will be in touch with you regarding logistics later in the spring semester. Any questions or concerns regarding orientation can be directed to Kate Glaser at kglaser@bw.edu.
- Graduate Internship
-
Full-Time Students
Congratulations on securing your first-year internship! Your LHE internship supervisor (s) will begin communicating with you in late spring/summer to confirm preliminary items you may need to complete before the start of the program. Information such as start date, office hours and dress code should be discussed with with your supervisor(s) and confirmed before orientation.
Part-Time Students
We are excited to help foster your growth within your established career! As an LHE part-time student, you must create an internship that is specifically designated and clearly differentiated from the work of your current position, to provide a new professional learning experience. Additionally, you must secure approval for your proposed internship from both your current employer and Dr. Ken Schneck, the LHE program director. Questions regarding this process should be directed to Dr. Schneck at kschneck@bw.edu.
- New Student Paperwork
-
All incoming LHE students will complete a variety of new student forms, which will assist with the transition to BW and the LHE program. Forms and further instructions will be distributed by Dr. Schneck later in the spring semester, and once completed, they must be scanned and emailed back to BW.
- Curriculum & Academic Calendar
-
The LHE curriculum includes a total of 38 credits: 26 credits are coursework and 12 internship hours. The LHE program adheres to the BW academic calendar for class meeting times but may have different internship start and end dates according to internship agreements. Please confirm with your internship supervisor for start and end date details.
Getting Started at BW
- Campus Life and Other Program Items
-
BW Jacket Express Card
At the beginning of the semester, LHE cohort members will be allotted a Jacket Express Card from campus access services. Some form of a photo ID, such as a driver's license, must be shown to receive your Jacket Express Card.
BW has excellent event programming, including nationally-known speakers, concerts, theatre productions, art exhibits and athletic events. Most of these are free or available to employees at a reduced charge by presenting your Jacket Express Card. The Jacket Express Card also provides access to the Lou Higgins Recreation Center and Ritter Library.
Books and Supplies
Students are responsible for purchasing their books and course materials prior to the beginning of each term. Books and supplies can be purchased at the BW Bookstore or through other online retailers.
Parking
All LHE students will receive a free parking permit to use on campus. The LHE director will coordinate setting up parking passes for new students at the beginning of the semester. LHE students are eligible to park in designated lots for staff. Your parking decal must be displayed at all times while parking on campus, and LHE students are required to follow University parking regulations. Visit campus access services for parking regulations and details.
Graduate Housing
BW is located just 20 minutes from Cleveland, and LHE students find many affordable housing options within the surrounding communities. While on-campus housing is not guaranteed as part of the LHE program (excluding specified LHE internships, hall director positions, etc.), limited on-campus graduate apartments are available. We recommend students apply for graduate housing early if they are interested in living on-campus.
Recreational Facilities
All LHE students are encouraged to use their BW Jacket Express ID card granting free access to the Lou Higgins Recreation Center for use of a fitness center, weight room, dance studio, multipurpose basketball, volleyball, badminton and racquetball courts, swimming pool, indoor batting cage and second-floor computer lab. The Tressel Lounge and classrooms/meeting rooms are also available for group meetings and studying. Cards for spouses are available for a nominal fee.
Health Services
All students enrolled in at least one class are eligible for services at BW’s Health Center (insurance is not required). Basic clinical care is provided with doctors and nurse practitioners available by appointment for additional services. Teleconference appointments are also available.
Counseling Center
Counseling Services are provided at no charge to students for individual, group or urgent/emergency counseling services. A $25 fee is charged for psychiatry services. Walk-in and telehealth counseling appointments are available.
