International Studies and Spanish Major
Hometown: Akron, Ohio
What out-of-classroom learning experiences have you had?
I studied abroad in Seville, Spain, was a BW CIG fellow and did an internship assisting refugees with the International Institute of Akron. I also published a paper in the Ohio State University Journal of Politics and International Affairs. In summer 2014 I did research work with a human rights group in Peru.
What are your post-graduation plans?
After graduation I hope to pursue a Master's degree in International Development.
How has your faculty mentor helped you?
Dr. Javier Morales-Ortiz has helped me both as my advisor and also with conducting research projects within the department. In classes, he has always gone above and beyond to ensure my progress.
What makes the BW international studies dept. special?
It is filled with incredibly intelligent and helpful professors who are extremely approachable and care very much about your success. They are more than willing to work with students on a one-on-one basis and assist them with research projects. The department also offers many challenging yet informative classes and provides many networking opportunities.
How has the Honors Program enhanced your BW experience?
It has presented me with extended opportunities to challenge myself, further my learning and meet new people. It is truly a community within itself, full of other students who are just eager to learn and share their academic experiences.
