Elizabeth Walters serves as an assistant professor for the undergraduate athletic training program and primarily teaches classes in the athletic training curriculum. She is also the faculty adviser of Iota Tau Alpha: The Athletic Training Honor Society.

Areas of academic interest and research revolve around the content areas she teaches specific to athletic training as well as leadership and pedagogy. Having received her doctorate in leadership studies, she understands the importance leadership has on student growth and development in and out of the classroom.

Walters is a member of a variety of professional athletic training organizations such as the National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA), Great Lakes Athletic Trainers' Association (GLATA), the Ohio Athletic Trainers' Association (OATA) and most recently the College Athletic Trainers’ Society. Her involvement with each organization varies. The most notable is her role as a GLATA education committee member and overseeing program assessment. Other professional service includes her position as the senior associate editor for the Journal of Sports Medicine and Allied Health Sciences, Ohio's first online, peer-reviewed athletic training journal. This position allows Walters to stay close to the OATA and help students with their professional involvement with their state organizations.

Prior to joining the BW community, Walters taught at Springfield College and Bowling Green State University (BGSU) in their athletic training programs. Her clinical athletic training experience includes working with Springfield College women's and men's gymnastics and men's basketball. While at BGSU she worked a variety of Division I collegiate events. Since working at BW, Walters has volunteered clinically with various BW athletic teams.
