Terry Thiele has been with The Lubrizol Corporation for over 15 years during which time his principal responsibilities have included strategic planning support and legislative and regulatory advocacy with an emphasis on environmental matters. In particular, Thiele has led Lubrizol’s growing involvement with environmental life-cycle assessments. He represents Lubrizol on numerous organizations including the U.N. Partnership for Clean Fuels and Vehicles, the American Chemistry Council’s Value Chain Outreach Committee, the American Petroleum Institute’s Used Oil Taskforce and the European Chemical Industry Council’s Life-Cyle Assessment Task Force. Locally he represents Lubrizol on Cleveland’s Corporate Sustainability Network. Thiele is an adjunct professor at Baldwin Wallace University where he teaches courses on business research and eco-efficiency.  He sits on advisory boards for the Case Western Reserve University Master of Engineering and Management Program and the Cleveland State University College of Business Center for Sustainable Business Practices. Thiele previously chaired the environmental and sustainability committee of the Association of Corporate Counsel. Before joining Lubrizol, Thiele performed environmental policy and government relations functions for the General Electric Company and for AB Electrolux. Prior to that he spent 11 years in the federal government with service in the Treasury Department, the Central Intelligence Agency, the Defense Intelligence Agency and the Executive Office of the President.  He received a Bachelor of Arts magna cum laude from Princeton University and a Juris Doctor from the New York University School of Law; he also is a graduate of the National War College.  He is licensed to practice law in Ohio and the District of Columbia. Terry served for 15 years in the U.S. Army Reserve, Judge Advocate General Corps, honorably discharged with the rank of captain.
