Margaret M. Stiner is associate director of the honors program and lecturer in English. She grew up in Syracuse, New York, and attended The College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts, earning a bachelor’s degree in English and religious studies. Margaret backpacked in Europe and taught in a Massachusetts youth corrections facility before attending graduate school at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, where she earned a master’s degree in teaching English. Margaret has taught English in the Brown University summer program for high school students; for the departments of Corrections and Youth Services in Ohio, Connecticut and Rhode Island; and in the honors program at Syracuse University. She directed academic advising at BW prior to coming to the honors program. She is particularly interested in the field of writing and rhetoric, and she teaches writing classes on the themes of contemporary American politics and the literature of 20th century wars.
