Edie Steiner, M.Ed. MT-BC, is lecturer in music therapy at Baldwin Wallace University  and a school-based music therapist with Akron Public Schools. She was a 2008 artist in residence for the City of Akron's Ohio Art Expo where she facilitated drum circles throughout the city. In 2000-2001 she served as artist in residence for the Akron Urban League and has presented at numerous conferences, including the Mid-Atlantic Music Therapy Conference (2008), 14th annual Assistive Technology Conference (2004) and The Ohio Music Educators Conference (2003 and 2012). Most recently, Steiner was a presenter and panel member at the Special Learners Academy at National Association for Music Education's Music Education Week in Baltimore, Maryland. She holds a master's degree in special education and is currently completing her Doctorate of Education in Organizational Leadership. Her dissertation investigates how leadership is distributed across four major urban elementary schools through the identification of emerging, informal teacher leaders within each school. A four time recipient of the prestigious Akron Public Schools Ambassador Award, Steiner has received several grants from Bank One, MEO/SERRC, and the OMNOVA Foundation that assist in the diverse music therapy programs she offers within the Akron Public Schools.
