Associate Dean, School of Humanities
Professor of English
Ph.D., University of Virginia
Dr. Susan Oldrieve specializes in early British literature from Celtic times through the Elizabethan period. She has done scholarly work on the Old English “Genesis B,” Chaucer, Shakespeare, Sidney and Spenser. Through the faculty-student collaboration program, she and her students have built websites with translations of Old English texts (“Un-Covering Old English Texts”) and of Breton stories (“Contes de Bretagne”). She also co-teaches an upper-level writing course in grant-proposal writing and directs a grant-funded program that places BW students in local high schools as paid writing coaches in order to help high school students prepare for the transition to college life. Her classes often include experiential opportunities such as travel, service learning and performance. She is currently serving half-time as associate dean for the School of Humanities.
