What will we do?
During this summer camp, students will get the chance to engage fully in the writing life. Under the guidance of a Baldwin-Wallace College English professor, they will read and talk and write and then write some more. In a workshop-style setting, students will craft their own short stories, essays, news articles, poems, and even blog entries. This camp will explore the idea of being a writer as a life option, not a career option.
Campers will meet with a variety of professional writers — from reporters and editors at The Plain Dealer to Northeast Ohio poets and fiction writers — to discuss their writing careers and writing lives.
When will the Writing camp be held?
The camp will start on June 13, and will conclude with a reception after dinner on June 18.
Who will run the camp?
These classes will be taught by Dr. Dan Hoyt, a member of the Baldwin-Wallace College writing faculty.
The supervision for this camp will be provided by the camp faculty, as well as our Baldwin-Wallace College Camp Staff.
Where will we stay?
All camps are residential – students will be staying in 21 Beech Street, the Honors Program Hall. 21 Beech Street provides a home-style college setting with a study lounge and social lounge, both furnished with couches, tables, chairs, and other furniture to ensure a comfortable atmosphere. The entire building is air-conditioned and carpeted, giving 21 Beech a homey, comfortable feeling.
