So You Want to Work in Sports Management?

What will we do?
This summer camp will expose students to the industry of sport, including professional sports, collegiate athletics and nonprofit organizations. The camp will combine classroom-based learning with multiple practical experiences, allowing students to understand various segments of the industry and learn what it takes to pursue a career in sport. Tours of local sport facilities (professional and collegiate) and visits with several sport management teams are scheduled as part of the camp but are not yet confirmed. Students will also attend an Indians’ game.

The curriculum will include presentations on sport management, the professional sport industry, collegiate athletics, sales and sponsorship, sport marketing, media relations, legal issues in sport management, budgeting, finance, as well as facility and event management.

When will the Sport Management camp be held?
The Camp will start on Sunday, July 25, 2010, in the afternoon, and will conclude with a reception on Friday, July 30, 2010.

Who will run the camp?
These classes will be taught by Professor Jeff Pacini, a member of the Baldwin-Wallace College Sports Management Faculty.

The supervision for this camp will be provided by the camp faculty, as well as our Baldwin-Wallace College Camp Staff.

Where will I stay?
All camps are residential – students will be staying in the Honors Program Hall, at 21 Beech Street. This dormitory provides a home-style college setting with a study lounge and a social lounge, both furnished with couches, tables, and chairs to ensure a comfortable atmosphere.  The entire building is air-conditioned and carpeted, giving 21 Beech a friendly, comfortable feeling.
