The camp will focus on giving students exposure to the many facets of engineering, including civil, chemical, electrical, industrial, electronic and mechanical engineering issues. Students will learn how professionals in that field go about solving problems, and will benefit from Dr. Meyer's experience teaching how to solve complex problems.
What will we do?
The camp will include of mix of classes on the developments of engineering (catapults, trebuchets), the elements of an engineering education, and the future job prospects in engineering (hybrid vehicles, renewable power, nuclear medicine, sustainability), as well as multiple visits to plants and other facilities where engineers work. Students will meet engineers and learn about their professional experiences.
When will the Engineering camp be held?
The camp will start on July 18, and will conclude with a reception on July 23.
Who will run the camp?
These classes will be taught by Dr. Ed Meyer, a member of the Baldwin-Wallace College Physics Faculty.
The supervision for this camp will be provided by the camp faculty, as well as our Baldwin-Wallace College Camp Staff.
Where will I stay?
All camps are residential - students will be staying in 21 Beech, the Honors Program Hall. 21 Beech Street provides a home-style college setting with a study lounge and social lounge, both furnished with couches, tables, chairs, and other furniture to ensure a comfortable atmosphere. The entire building is air-conditioned and carpeted, giving 21 Beech a homey, comfortable feeling.
