Student Affairs

Mission Statement

Acknowledging the importance of the college years in a student’s academic, spiritual, and social growth, the Division of Student Affairs seeks to support the mission of Baldwin-Wallace College.

Recognizing that students enter college at various developmental levels, it is the goal of the Division to assist each individual student in reaching his or her fullest potential through focus on the following themes:

  • Valuing a total education
  • Developing the whole person
  • Enhancing life skills
  • Building community

We affirm that a valuable, well-rounded education combines both academic and co-curricular endeavors.  We support and compliment the academic curriculum through our interaction with students, individually and collectively, in out-of-class experiences which enhance their individual growth and development.

We recognize that the development of the whole person involves intellectual, emotional, social, environmental, spiritual, physical, and vocational growth.  Involvement with these components leads to enhanced self-esteem, confidence, and clarity of values by which individuals lead their lives.

We strive to prepare students for lifelong learning through the enhancement of skills which include:  leadership, collaboration, and critical thinking.  The experiences that provide these skills include participation in student organizations, attendance at workshops and retreats, opportunities to represent the College, participation on College committees, and student employment opportunities in the Division.

We seek to build a community in which everyone recognizes and respects the individuality, diversity, and interdependence of its members.  The presence of such qualities fosters a rewarding campus environment which results in citizenship exemplified through formal and active participation in the community.
